The fact that Tonka had to fight to get its terrace license is exemplary of everything wrong with bureaucracy in general and in our Ajuntament specifically. ¡Por el amor de dios, you could land a small plane on Marquès de Campo Sagrado (if there were no trees or lamp posts, clar)! And yet, despite that fact, Tonka Bar has had to file, beg, pay, photocopy and cry in front of at least one funcionario to get its terrace. Well done and congratulations! And now we, el público, have a 4-table terrace on one of the most tranquil streets in Sant Antoni, just a stone’s throw from the shit-there’s-no-more-space explosion that is C/ Parlament. Enjoy quiet, shade, room to breathe and even green on this terraza. Yeah, it’s weird having all of these things in Barcelona. And while you’re at it, enjoy Estrella Galicia (2 euro copa/2,50 euro mediana) and a huge coca (fresh baked in-house) covered in escalivada, goat’s cheese and romesco or roasted tomatoes, mozzarella and a hazelnut spinach pesto. Oh, and yes, they do brunch.
