If we rewind, you’re walking away from L’Antica Napoli so stuffed you would rather roll yourself down Montjuïc’s soft slope than walk. Before that, however, back in your seats in the tiny restaurant with electric flickering wannabe-candlelights, you were gorging on dessert.
You enjoyed the panna cotta with caramel. Friend One devoured a tiramisu. And you both helped Friend Two finish off the sizeable and absolutely outstanding calzone de Nutella (yes, the same one they’ve made smaller because people just weren’t finishing it and they don’t like to waste food). When it arrived at the table you gasped, “Ooohh,” but you still had no idea what you were in for. That was when Friend Two said, “Maybe we shouldn’t have ordered three,” and Friend One added, “or the salads as an appetizer.” But the damage had been done and you don’t like to waste food either. Already, at that point, it was somewhat difficult to remember a time 30 minutes earlier when you were hungry and the giant pizza, generous bowl of penne with lamb and excellent lasagne de carne were placed in front of you by the friendly waitstaff. Those were good times. (Back to the future: next time you go, maybe you’ll skip the starter, but you’ll never let go of that calzone de chocolate.)
