A makeover, complete with scraped beams and vaulting (so hot right now), has bumped the 2012 version of Bar La Bota, traspasado into Miriam’s hands 5 months ago, into the modern category. But it hasn’t taken the barrio out of the bar one bit, and for that we applaud the owner and the friends that made it happen. La Bota was muy, muy de barrio before, cool because it wasn’t, with a large window that somehow made locale + street = one. That’s been preserved. And other changes made inside are certainly improvements, but without pretension. Head here if you need some “off Blai” time, to dip around a corner towards more ‘hood. It has all the potential to be a place where everybody knows your name, has cañas de Estrella Galicia a €1.50, micheladas that kick ass for €2 and some damn tasty snacks including Miriam’s own empanadas, auténticas argentinas, pizzetas y más.
