The terraza monopoly on one of Barcelona’s most precious corners has finally been broken. Until about a month ago, and for years before that, the restaurant Candela held outdoor seating in Plaza de Sant Pere under it’s polished, sexually liberated thumb (through no fault of theirs, of course). Now, in the opposite corner of this triangular bastion of shade and old stone you can plop down at one of the four mesas that pertain to En Aparté. The outdoor seating is a big plus for this French-run bar/restaurant, which has already garnered a faithful winter following thanks to the light atmosphere, good French wine, and warm, rustic muebles (purchased by Parisian brother and sister Matilde and Benjamin in brocante and vide grenier markets across le France). In addition to the wines, all cheeses and charcuterie also come from our neighbor to the north. As does the foie, which you can try in the ensalada de foie y magret. Drool.
